Advertising technology

Advertising technology & labels

What used to be called "sign painting" is now summarized in the job description "advertising designer".

Many industries find a technical home under one roof, these are:

  • Designs / Graphic design
  • Classic labels with foil
  • Stencil painting
  • Car wrapping (full foiling)
  • Signage
  • Illuminated advertising
  • Laser engraving / CNC milling / water jet milling
  • screen printing
  • Textile printing
  • Pad printing
  • UV direct printing
  • and much more.

At WEiTSICHT we specialize in the planning of advertising technology projects of all kinds and their implementation in partnership with many advertising technology companies in your area, with whom we are connected through various associations and communities.

In the past of our company, we had many machines and employees in the field of advertising technology and were also a training company ourselves.

This is where our expertise in this area comes from.
Today, as described above, we work with specialist companies from a wide range of sectors in order to be able to guarantee you, the customer, the fastest, most cost-effective and qualitative implementation from production to assembly.

We would be happy to show you some specialist areas where we would like to present ourselves as your partner:

Classic advertising technology with digital foil printing

Labeling with printed or full-color foil has a long tradition.

Films are ideal for use in corrugations, to enable labeling around bends and curves.

While full foiling and large-area lamination with foil involves working with whole strips and large, usually rectangular foil components,
In foil cutting (technical jargon: plotting), the foil is cut into any shape using a cutting plotter.

This has the advantage that you can place virtually free-standing subjects.
A typical example would be opening times with foil letters on a glass door or the ever-popular rear window lettering for club events.

Classic advertising technology also includes projects such as the preparation of stickers on sheets or individually, doming stickers or the production and assembly of company signs and sunburst lettering.

Special applications can also include reproduction printing of works of art or large-scale processing of photographs.

Especially when it comes to large-scale signage in outdoor areas, it is also necessary to clarify in advance whether building permits and advertising permits are required that have an impact on public land and traffic.

In our blog you will always find examples of our already implemented projects.

Have fun reading and maybe soon, implementing your project.

Signage

Signage refers to everything that helps to optimize orientation in large areas, buildings or on streets.

But anyone who thinks that signage is simply the installation of signs is very much mistaken.

Especially in the age of barrier-free accessibility of public buildings, haptic situation plans, guidance systems with Braille and optimized representations for people with visual impairments are an important part of the job.

In the age of digitalization and constant advertising bombardment, the areas of signage, digital signage and advertising lettering are increasingly merging.

We look forward to your project and will be happy to advise you!

Illuminated advertising

Neon lights were yesterday...
But let's be honest, there's something stylish about a nice old neon sign like the ones in the old American diners, isn't there?

But illuminated advertising encompasses so much more.
From classic light boxes to illuminated letters and contoured illuminated structures to illuminated art, almost anything is possible.

In addition to the creative limitations, the statics, the laws on illuminated advertising, which regulate the brightness limits and disruptive effects on wildlife, traffic and air traffic, and the authorities, which must first approve illuminated advertising, are an important part of every project.

Uniform regulations are not only a long way off in Switzerland, and so different specifications and measurement regulations must be observed depending on the location.

We will guide you through this jungle until you have your illuminated advertising ready!

Laser engraving & CNC milling

Using large and small laser machines, we carry out large-scale contour cuts for signage and signs with millimeter accuracy, based on any vector template.

Engraving various materials such as acrylic, wood, leather, slate, various stones, various metals, cardboard, MDF, paper, etc. is also possible and offers wonderful implementation options, as you can see in the gallery on the page of some of our projects.

We start from edition 1 up to large series.

We work very closely with our customers to implement the laser files and sample the materials so that the end result is as unique as this creative form of long-term labeling and art.

UV direct printing for signs and merchandise

Direct printing on flat or curved surfaces is the logical development of the printing technologies already used in advertising technology.

The UV-curing ink has the advantage of being scratch-resistant and dry immediately after exposure to UV light, which makes it possible to print on almost any reasonably flat surface.

With round printing devices you can also achieve this with fairly evenly round surfaces.

Initially it was only used in sign printing, which is of course much cheaper than sign labeling with foil, where a covering and lamination process are necessary before the sign is finished.
Applications in the merchandise sector were soon added, where entire batches of lighters, cell phone cases, etc. could be printed directly with UV ink.

There is now almost no product that is not printed directly with UV ink. A cost-effective and attractive solution has even been found for labelling bottles instead of applying a label.

We are also happy to offer various finishing options using UV direct printing.

Digital Signage

Digital signage is defined as a “remotely managed digital display typically associated with sales, advertising, and marketing” or more broadly as “a network of electronic displays that are centrally managed and individually addressable for displaying text, animation, or video messages (e.g., advertising, information, entertainment, merchandising) to the target audience.” The term "digital signage" is very flexible and is even used in large format printing in the digital printing industry. Data is digitally processed, calibrated for the workflow and/or audiovisualized. Manufacturers of large screens and projectors, suppliers of conference and exhibition technology and even television stations can therefore call themselves "digital signage providers". Digital signage can also be an information medium that is personalized for the respective target group, loads data from the cloud or plays its campaigns interactively using a media player or USB stick.

Digital signage is networked (audio-)visual and digitalized information, the contents of which can always be fed in or updated manually or automatically using a program. This requires a combination of:

  • Storage, e.g. the cloud
  • a controller
  • a computer program to prepare content
  • the playback device.

The content can then be saved in the cloud and loaded as needed.

Interactive digital signage combines gesture recognition and gesture control with a digital signage screen.
